Rolando Cordoba - Tarqui Cup 2018 2nd place - Filter Coffee

Weights1kg, 250g

Rolando Cordoba Ramos, his wife Louise Mirian and their five children all live on the farm named Mirolindo in La Vega, Tarqui. The farm is tiny, only two hectares in size and was founded in 2011. Small in size but huge in the cup :)

Last year Eddie was fortunate enough to be one of the judges in the Tarqui Cup hosted by Nordic Approach and Fairfield Trading. The competition is a fantastic way for small producers to connect with roasters from all over the world. Mirolindo placed 2nd with an average score of 88.23 points. The price for coffee in Colombia has been below cost of production at times and around the time of this competition the price per ‘Carga’ 125kg of coffee was 800.000 pesos. We are delighted to have paid 2 million pesos per carga for this coffee, 2.5 times the commodity price.

On the farm cherry is collected every 4 weeks, it is left in Tulas then pulped and fermented for 36 hours, washed 4 times and drained for 12 hours. A Tula is a bag made from fibres.
