Muchagara AB - Espresso - Washed Coffee

The Muchagara factory is named after one of the villages in the county of Kirinyaga, north east of Nairobi. Muchagara is a wet mill (factory) which purchases cherry from about 1700 smallholder farmers, many of whom are members of the Baragwi Farmers Co-operative Society. The Factory was founded in 1959 making it the oldest wet mill in Kirinyaga.

The current manager David Shege has been working at Muchagara for two years and has been tirelessly working to ensure top quality production, which we feel is truly reflected in this stunning coffee. David oversees over 200 tonnes of production per year, a typical cycle is as follows. Flowering takes place from March to April, the harvest runs from November to December and the coffees ship in March and April. This lot was picked in November 2018 making it a fresh crop arrival for us.

We adore the fruity notes of this coffee and it’s complex rich layers make it perfect for both filter and espresso preparation.
