Rimiro - Filter - Natural Coffee

It was a sunny day in August 2019 when we first cupped this coffee, in fact it was so bright we cupped outside with sun glasses on! We were blown away by not only bold fruits but body and structure. Now its stormy and the middle of winter and our beloved taste of summer has arrived.

Rimiro is a new washing station for us and is located in the Kayanza Provice of Burundi and is a large part of the community. With about 1500 farmers selling cherry directly to the washing station and over 200 drying tables there is space for natural processed coffees like this one. Rimiro translates to ‘where we cultivate’, we are pleased to know that the company that owns the washing station (called Bugestal) is also cultivating a positive and sustainable working environment for the community.

Quality cherry price is well above the national rate (25-30% approx) and health care and education are provided during the harvest season. Alongside this farmers are assisted with agricultural programs including the raising of livestock and de-pulped cherry for fertiliser.
