This is a great example of a classic Brazilian coffee. Coffee has been grown in this valley since the 19th century but the area has since been divided into 6 main farms and a handful of small producers. Vale de Grama is located in the same region in which the Brazil Speciality Coffee Association (BSCA) was founded in 1991. Being so close to the birthplace of the specialty coffee concept which began in the city of São Sebastião da Grama over 100 years ago has meant being at the forefront of changes and improvements within the coffee industry.

Here we have a mix of Yellow Bourbon, Catuaí and Catucaí all of which are commonly found across Brazil’s landscape, Yellow Bourbon being the most common due to its high yield potential and excellent cup quality. Both Catuaí and Catucaí descend from the Bourbon varietal which was brought across from Bourbon Island in the mid 1800s making it a relatively new varietal to Brazil.

This coffee comprises of 80% natural processing and 20% Honey processing allowing for a sweet and balanced cup. We’re all very happy to be able to have this coffee on our offer list this year.
