Miguel Bohorquez’s farm El Triunfo is found in Garzon, Huila. He grows a diverse range of varietals, including Colombia, Caturra and Castillo, along with a Round Hill favourite - Pink Bourbon, so-called due to the pinky orange tone of the coffee cherries. Originally thought to be a hybrid of Red and Yellow Bourbon, it is in fact an Ethiopian landrace and not a Bourbon at all.
Our import partners Nordic Approach sourced this coffee through Coocentral, the primary cooperative in central Huila. Coocentral has nearly 4000 members, of whom around half are farmers working 2-3 hectares each at altitudes of 1400-2000 masl. Between the two organisations, there is a collaborative effort to enhance the coffee quality and the well-being of producers, offering training initiatives and technical assistance. Since 2005, Coocentral has invested nearly 3 million USD in social programmes including housing, education and healthcare.
This Pink Bourbon microlot is beautifully citrussy and floral, tea-like and sweet.
